Beacon Investment Solutions (Pty) Ltd. is a South African alternative investment fund administrator based in Cape Town. Our boutique and personalised service offers both large and small fund managers the opportunity to concentrate their time and efforts on the management, growth and investment performance of their portfolios. We focus on providing flexible, secure and timely accounting and administration solutions, which directly address the individual needs of our clients. OUR PEOPLE
DAVID SIMS
Director
David Sims founded Beacon Capital Management Ltd. and Beacon Fund Advisors Ltd. in 1997 after leaving his employment as a Managing Director of Citco BVI Ltd. Mr. Sims is based in the BVI and has been involved with hedge funds for over 18 years working extensively with fund managers primarily in the USA, Brazil, Switzerland and the UK. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the establishment, organisation, management and operation of funds and other investment vehicles, serving also as a director of a number of international funds. He holds a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (1981) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Taxation (1988), which he obtained from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Mr. Sims is a standing member of the Securities and Investment Business Act (SIBA) Advisory Committee in the BVI and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He was also a member of the BVI Mutual Funds Advisory Committee (2000 – 2008), Chairman of the BVI Mutual Funds Practitioners Association (2006 - 2007) and Chairman of the BVI Association of Registered Agents (1994 - 1995).
DANIEL ROMBURGH
Director / Key Individual
Daniel Romburgh has over 5 years experience in the fund services and administration arena, both in the British Virgin Islands where he worked for Beacon Fund Advisors Ltd. in 2006 and 2007, and in South Africa where he has been working since 2008. He is currently based in Cape Town. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management (2004) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and he is currently completing his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification.
THIAN DE BEER
Director / Key Individual
Thian de Beer is a director as well as the Financial Manager of Beacon Investment Solutions (Pty) Ltd. and has over 5 years of experience in his field. Thian holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Management Accounting from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and is also a CIMA Student - exams completed in 2009 and currently awaiting his charter.
VANESSA FOURIE
Legal Advisor
Vanessa has been with Beacon Investment Solutions since the company’s inception. She is based in Cape Town and provides legal, compliance and corporate services to our business operations. Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (2005) and a Masters of Law (2007) degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In 2008 she was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa where she is currently listed on the non-practicing roll.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
We utilise FundCount Inc’s FC Fund software for the provision of our software solution. FC Fund offers a fully integrated back-office solution designed to meet the needs of the alternative investment industry by offering a range of tools needed for the performance of efficient and accurate accounting and administration functions.
